Digitalising Manufacturing 2020

For the first time, the MTC’s flagship Digitalising Manufacturing Conference 2020 was taking place virtually and for free on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th October.

The Digitalising Manufacturing Conference is the UK leading international annual gathering of manufacturing leaders in digital and aims to address the lessons learnt from the recent crisis whilst introducing delegates to new strategies to react in the short-term and emerging future opportunities to thrive in the long-term. The packed two-day conference featured a number of insightful keynote presentations, educational workshops, and panel discussions with manufacturing experts from around the world – all supported by real manufacturing practical examples and case studies to learn from.

Fortunately, the MTC has made the recordings of the two days of conference freely available online. While every single talk was interesting in its own way, we would like to highlight especially the contribution by Tim Minshall, Professor of Innovation at Cambridge University an. There he makes the case, that in the new normal created by Covid-19, technologies like AR/VR training and remote support are no longer a “nice to have” but a “must have now!” for businesses.

Professor Minshall’s talk starts at the 3hour, 1minute, 30 seconds (03:0:30) mark of the second day:
